QUANTIFIERS

*Quantifiers are related with the previous topic "countable and uncountable nouns" *


Countable nouns 

Cars, apples, carrots, chairs, eggs.


Carros, manzanas, zanahorias, sillas, huevos. 



Countable nouns 

Oil, cheese, jam, rice, flour, meat, time, hair, bread.

Aceite, queso, jamon, arroz, harina, carne, tiempo, cabello, pan.

EXPLANATION


What is a quantifier?

A quantifier is a word or phrase which is used before
 a noun to indicate quantity:

Some, any, much, many, a lot of. 




** Some = Algunos



We use "some" in affirmative sentences with countable or uncountable nouns. 


E.g. There are some pencils in the bed. (Hay algunos lapices en la cama)





** Any = Algunos 


We use "any" in negative and interrogative sentences with countable or uncountable nouns. 


E.g. I have not bought any bread. (no he comprado algún pan)



E.g  Have you bought any apples? (Has comprado algunas manzanas? )  




** Much = Mucho

We use "much" for uncountable nouns.
E.g. How
much sugar do you have? (cuanto azúcar tienes)



** Many = Muchos 

We use "many" for countable nouns.

E.g.  How many pets do you have? (Cuántas mascotas tienes?




** A lot of = Muchos 

WE use " a lot of"  for countable or uncountable nouns specially in affirmative sentences.

E.g. There are a lot of insects. (alli hay muchos insectos)
